Kat Turczyn

Kathleen moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2009, after spending the first two decades of her life in California and Colorado and the next four in the Washington, DC area.  She has a Master's Degree in Public Health and had a long, productive career with the National Center for Health Statistics.  After retiring, she began painting portraits in pastels, attracting several commissions.  In the summer of 2010, she started working in oils, exploring human and animal faces and landscapes.  She is a member of the Toe River Arts Council (TRAC), where she volunteers in the Burnsville gift shop, the Blue Ridge Fine Arts Guild (BRAG), and the Western North Carolina Plein Air Painters.  Her paintings have been exhibited in several galleries in the Burnsville area.  In May of 2010, her self portrait won first place at the First Annual BRAG Art Show.
