Artist Nancy Wood

Nancy Wood

I stumbled upon art in high school, surprised to discover that I could do a pretty good job drawing faces. I studied art in college, but couldn't sort out how to translate my interest into a career. Perhaps I never believed that I was good enough to be a "real" artist, but I continued to draw and explore mediums, for my own pleasure. In the late 1990s, I started working with watercolor, took some lessons, and eventually got back into oils. Art is still mostly "on the side" but I believe it suits me better NOT to be a professional artist. Painting is something special that I do for myself, to connect deeply with nature and express my creative side.
