Susan Garriques

Susan began creating animal portraits when she was just 12 years old. Those portraits were all drawn with those yellow #2 pencils all students used in school. And they were drawn on lined notebook paper - complete with holes for a 3-ring binder. Some of those portraits are still filed away, but Susan has since learned the value of using archival surfaces. Although she still enjoys using pencils, she now favors using oil paints. And she never lost her love of creating animal portraits. Being able to "give back" was a goal Susan made many years ago, and now is happy to be able to contribute to local animal shelters and rescues through her art. She is proud to be a member HeARTs Speak, a group of artists working together to promote deeper understanding of shelter and rescue animals.
